A blower is used to remove excess dust.
All negatives are then scanned at 4000dpi - we can scan at lower settings however feel since this is a service you only should do once you really should get the best service possible.
Negatives must be in strips of 6 or less - longer strips will need to be cut down
Digital ICE is normally on as standard - this automatically reduces dust and scratches and in most cases produces a far superior scan
GEM is also used as standard and works to reduce film grain
ROC is an automatic colour enhancement process
Where needed images are retouched in photoshop to remove larger dust artifacts - correct any remaining colour balance and contrast issues and rotate images to the correct orientation.
Image borders are manually cropped
A smaller version of the image is also saved (1-16th the size of the original) - which is suitable for DVD playback on TV - emailing and printing at 4x6 size
Full size images are around 20MegaPixels in size and are normally saved as JPGs - TIFFs are available on request however at a higher cost. The difference in quality of the full resolution JPG and TIFF is barely if at all visable. Therefore we will send JPGs unless otherwise asked |
